How to fill out a softball lineup card
- Write the batting order from 1 down. Add an extra hitter (EP) or designated player (DP) if your league uses them.
- Add each player's jersey number and starting position, using the position numbers (1 pitcher to 9 right field) or letters (P, C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF).
- Plan defence for each inning in the inning columns, so players rotate the way you want before the game starts.
- List subs at the bottom and fill in the field diagram for the first inning. Print two copies: one for the dugout, one for the other coach or umpire.
Softball positions by number
1 pitcher, 2 catcher, 3 first base, 4 second base, 5 third base, 6 shortstop, 7 left field, 8 center field, 9 right field. Slowpitch leagues often add a 10th fielder: a short fielder or rover (SF or 10).
Continuous batting orders, EP and DP
Many rec and youth leagues bat everyone in a continuous order, so the template has 15 batting spots. Fastpitch leagues may use an extra player (EP), who bats but doesn't field, or a designated player (DP) paired with a flex player who fields but doesn't bat. Write the DP and flex on the lines provided.

Yes. The batting order, positions and field diagram work for baseball too, but the card has seven inning columns plus one extra, so use a second copy to plan a full nine-inning game.
How many innings does it cover?
Seven innings plus an extra column, which covers fastpitch and slowpitch games including one extra inning.
Can I share the lineup with my team instead of printing it?
