How to fill out a volleyball lineup sheet

  1. Enter your six starters in serving order: the first server goes in position I.
  2. Add a jersey number and position (setter, outside, middle, opposite) for each player if you like.
  3. Add your libero and subs, and choose how many sets you want cards for.
  4. Check the six rotations below the form, then print the sheet.

How volleyball rotations work

The court is split into six zones. Zone 1 is right back, where the server stands; zone 2 is right front, 3 middle front, 4 left front, 5 left back and 6 middle back.

Each time your team wins the serve back, everyone rotates one spot clockwise: the player in zone 2 moves to zone 1 and serves. The order on your lineup sheet is the serving order, and it has to stay the same for the whole set.

What goes on a lineup card

A lineup card lists the six starters in serving order (I to VI) by jersey number, plus the libero. Hand it to the scorer before each set. Players in the wrong order is a rotation fault, so it's worth checking the rotation diagrams before you hand it in.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is the volleyball lineup sheet free?

Yes. Fill it in on your phone or computer and print it. No account needed.

What order do I write the starting lineup in?

Serving order. Position I is your first server (right back), then the player who will rotate into serve next, and so on through position VI.

Where does the libero go on the lineup sheet?

The libero has their own box on the card. They aren't one of the six in the serving order and replace a back-row player during play.

Can I print a card for every set?

Yes. Pick the number of sets and the sheet prints one lineup card per set, plus the rotation diagrams.
